Welcome to the Team 999 MechaRAMS Website

MechaRAMS 2023 Off-season!

A summer of relaxation and exciting experimental projects is just what we needed. After a lovely CIAC game and successful off-season working on our baby swerve module [programming development is documented on the programming subteam page!] and collaborating with Team 5142 and 3654, the 2024 season will be just as great as last year [maybe even better!]. We are so excited preparing for next season – see you all then!!!!!

MechaRAMS 2023 – What a great season

The FIRST 2023 Season is in the books. It was an incredible season from the snow delays in Waterbury to the #2 Alliance Captain in Hartford, a great show at NE District Champs, all the way to the FIRST Championship in Houston. Even though the FRC season is done, we still have State Championships as well as Senior Day. While activity will slow so that we can relax a little, plans are being created for some great off season activities. Keep an eye out for announcements.

Who We Are!

FIRST Robotics Team 999, the MechaRAMS, are a team of students from Cheshire High School in Cheshire, CT, who are dedicated to take their STEM journey to the next level. Competing in the FIRST Robotics competitions since 2002, The MechaRAMS strive to provide STEM opportunities for students interested in all areas of expertise, from programming, to engineering, to CAD, to build.

Being a part of the MechaRAMS not only gives students opportunities to develop their technical skills but also life skills. They learn how to successfully exchange ideas coming from different technical standpoints, how to handle conflict in a professional manner, compromise, manage time, work in a large, team environment to accomplish one common goal, and good sportsmanship are a few of the many skills each member of the MechaRAMS is exposed to.

Our Seasons Throughout the Years…

2023 Season – Charged Up

The MechaRAMS have spent multiple hours over the build season outside of school in order to complete their robot and have reached many personal milestones in developing their skills in all areas. They are all very eager to watch their weeks of dedication in action at this year’s CHARGED UP tournament. Go MechaRAMS!

This season has put another great game in front of us. Charged Up has an open field, game pieces of different shapes, an end game that needs all alliance members, and an element where you need to work with the opposing alliance. Check out the game animation below.

This year, we will again be competing in Waterbury (3/11-12) and Hartford (4/1-2). See the 2022-2023 Competition Page for more details.

2022 – Big Season Back

This season was a big Success. Our robot, Mr Krabs, performed so well, we were selected at the number 9 pick and the number 8 pick in our competitions. We were solid in the autonomous segment and had an end game that put us on everyone’s watch list for an alliance pick. The drive team was impressive with complete control on both ends of the field.

2022 Season Kickoff – Rapid React

The season kick off was a blast. Rapid React was an interesting game. It combined a standard element of collecting and shooting balls with a semi-new element or climbing progressively higher bars. Check out the game animation.

Success in 2020

Congratulations MechaRAMS Part of Winning Alliance in 2020 NE FIRST Robotics Competition Waterbury Event

Team 999 Comes Home with Blue Banner as Part of Winning Alliance

Even though the season was shortened due to COVID-19, we were able to get in one competition. The MechaRAMS came out of the Waterbury event with a blue banner as part of the winning alliance. We give a big thanks to the top ranked team and alliance captain Team 176 – Aces High from Windsor Locks, CT as well as the the first alliance selection Team 177 – Bobcat Robotics out of South Windsor, CT. It was a great honor for two great teams to select us as the third partner. The fourth member of the alliance was Team 4572 – BArlow RobAutics from Redding, CT.
